Earth Tones & Materials
Restore the essence of nature in your kitchen by adding earth tones and natural wood to your space. Softer shades, like olive green or worn denim-blue, paired with a light natural stained wood, such as white oak, will evoke calmness and brighten your room. Warmth is key as we transition from harsh and contrasting pallets to subtle and uplifting tones. Integrating wood with prominent grain patterns, such as rustic alder and walnut, is a great way to include texture and definition to your cabinets.
Want to add some drama? Introducing accents of complementary rich tones can draw the eye without darkening the space.
Hidden Storage & Organization
Today’s homeowners are embracing clean, minimal designs with clever functionality. Hidden pull-out drawers, drop down organizers and built-in pantries, help minimize visual clutter while maximizing storage. Applying cabinet fronts to your fridge and other major appliances is another great way to ensure seamless style from wall to wall. Ask Cabinet Design Sales how to keep your kitchen up-to-date and timeless with these features and more!

Overlay
Let our experienced designers help you explore your preferred cabinet overlay: Full overlay, frameless kitchen cabinets, or inset cabinetry. These choices will determine how much of the cabinet frame is visible and will dramatically influence the final aesthetic of your space.
FULL
Doors and drawer fronts overlay most of the face frame, leaving ¼" exposed on the bottom and sides. Most popular option for homeowners.
FRAMELESS
No face frame in installed on the cabinet box. Doors and drawer fronts almost completely overlay the box, leaving ⅛" exposed. This modern “european style” creates a seamless look by minimizing distance between doors.
INSET
Doors and drawer fronts fit flush with the face frame when closed. Popular option for homeowners who want to create a custom look; however, caution is advised if space is not climate controlled.
PARTIAL
Doors and drawer fronts partially overlay the face frame, leaving 1" exposed on the top, bottom and sides. This overlay is the more traditional and cost-effective option.
Style
Whether you love the clean lines of modern kitchen cabinets, the timeless appeal of transitional, or the charm of traditional cabinetry, the team at Cabinet Design Sales will help you find a design that suits your home and lifestyle.
TRADITIONAL
Rich stain finishes, raised panels and ornate profiles are hallmarks of traditional style cabinets. Rustic features and distressings, such as knots, worn edges and worm holes, are also popular options for creating an aged look.
TRANSITIONAL
Many flat panel door styles offer a balanced mix of traditional detail and modern simplicity. Adding a rounded bevel or stair-stepped edge to a shaker door is a great way create a personalized look while tying in any existing decorative moulding in the space.
MODERN
Straight lines with minimal detail are key features of modern door styles. Contemporary kitchens often showcase cabinets with slab doors and drawer fronts. Want a modern look but like doors with some detail, consider variations with narrower or wider rails. Choosing a door with a shallow profile is another great way to achieve a modern look.
Wood Species
Each wood species brings its own texture, grain pattern, and color tone. Choose from Birch, Maple, Poplar, Alder, Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, Cherry, or Walnut—all selected for quality and beauty. Our team of experts can help you make a wise choice.
BIRCH
Birch is a medium-density hardwood with a distinct, moderate grain pattern that ranges from straight to wavy or curly. It varies in color from nearly white to a dark and slightly reddish brown.
MAPLE
Maple is a versatile hardwood with a fine, smooth grain. It varies in color from nearly white to a slightly reddish brown. Mineral or sugar streaks occur naturally in Maple and can vary from piece to piece. Variations will be more noticeable in lighter stains.
POPLAR
Poplar is a fine-grained hardwood with straight and lightly figured grain patterns. The material is light cream to tan in color; however, heavy green material and dark mineral streaks may be present.
ALDER/RUSTIC
Alder is a softer wood with a fine straight grain and even texture. Alder does not evolve in color or darken when exposed to light or heat as other woods do; however, care must be taken to avoid damage due to its softer nature. Some small tight knots can be found with standard alder.
RED OAK
Red Oak is a strong wood with a long linear grain, often displaying tiny rays. You may notice small pinholes and tight knots.
WHITE OAK
White Oak is known for distinctive rays and flecks in the wood grain, with colors that range from nearly white to a darker gray/brown. White Oak takes stain fairly evenly and is known for its strength, durability and beauty.
HICKORY
Hickory is a heavy, strong wood. It is known for flowing, vibrant grain patterns and dramatic color variations. Hickory can also exhibit random pecks, buris and mineral streaks.
CHERRY
Cherry displays a distinctive grain pattern and warm color. Dark pockets, pin knots, and random streaks are common. More than most woods, cherry will darken when exposed to light, especially in light stains.
WALNUT
Walnut is a strong, stable American hardwood known for wide color variation. Walnut cabinetry will have both flowing grain and straight grain.
